January 11th and 18th, 2003

Tickets: $7

February 1st 830pm

The Osgood-Schlatter Show is an hour of mind-blowing sketch and alternative comedy from the most innovative comics in New York City.

The core ensemble consists of the best performers at The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Late Night with Conan O'Brien and various other comedy productions. These comics are given an outlet where they can do whatever they want. No censors. No manipulative creative directors. Come see these talented actors and writers perform their most experimental and personal material. Come more than once, because each Osgood show is brand-new.

And who has performed at Osgood? Ed Helms (correspondent on the Daily Show), Dannah Feinglass (Mad TV), Paul Scheer (Respecto Montalban, Burly Bear TV), Brian Huskey and Seth Morris (Naked Babies), Sean Conroy (Premium Blend), Will Hines (Conan OŐBrien), John Gemberling and Curtis Gwinn (Conan, The Warped Tour), Jane Borden (The Upright Citizens Brigade), Owen Burke (Respecto Montalban, starred in Bollywood Major Motion Picture), Ptolemy Slocum (numerous national commercials), Mitch Magee (Citizen Nuts), Rob Lathan (Upright Citizens Brigade), and Dan Powell (Daily Show).

Past Productions of The Osgood-Schlatter Show have included the following: an angry NBA owner performing stand-up jokes about incompetent referees while dribbling a basketball, an alien discussing Jane Fonda with his two Earth captives, a one-armed Sunday school teacher talking about the proper way to feed snakes, two convicts on the run performing "Knights in White Satin", a stand-up comedian standing naked in front of the audience after being assured their eyes were closed, a guy accidentally sexually fantasizing about himself and of course much, much more.

For the HA! Comedy Fest, these comics plan to bring you their best sets.

Does this show have anything to do with
the childhood bone ailment of the same name?

Nope.

BIOS:

Will Hines has trained at The Upright Citizens Brigade and Chicago City Limits. He performs with the improv team Monkeydick and the sketch comedy duo Citizen Nuts. He co-produces The Osgood-Schlatter Show with Rob Lathan. He also played French Horn for 12 years, which is pretty cool.

Ed Helms was born and raised in Atlanta, GA. After attending Oberlin College in scenic Ohio, Ed headed for New York City to pursue comedy. For years Ed worked in the comedy trenches as a stand-up comedian, eventually earning regular spots at NYC's top comedy clubs and an appearance on the Fall 2002 season of Comedy Central's Premium Blend. Television commercials have also factored heavily in Ed's career. In addition to numerous national voice-overs, Ed appeared opposite Dale Earnhardt Jr. in a 2002 Super Bowl spot for Budweiser. Ed has written and performed sketch comedy with numerous groups over the years and studied improvisation with The Upright Citizens Brigade. Ed can still be seen regularly performing at The Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in NYC. In April of 2002, Ed joined the cast of Comedy Central's "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. He also plays the banjo."

Rob Lathan has performed at comedy clubs and theatres all around New York. He wrote and starred in his (nearly) one-man show John 3:16 at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. He placed third in the cutthroat Mr. Lower East Side competition at the Collective Unconscious Theatre. He also hosts, produces and performs in the The Osgood-Schlatter Show. HeŐs pretty funny.

The Cowboy and John (John Gemberling and Curtis Gwinn) are NYC's premiere sketch and improv comedy duo. If Abbott and Costello were alive and doing comedy today, they would look like shit in comparison. The Cowboy and John perform regularly at New York's top comedy clubs, most notably at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in Chelsea. Abbott and Costello could probably book these rooms too, but we think everyone would agree that they would be pretty played out after fifty some odd years. How long can you really keep doing "Who's on First?" BOOOOOO-ring! You might recognize Curtis and John from their various TV and film appearances. They have appeared on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, the Burly Bear Network, The Moth, various independent films and even an advertisement for delicious Subway Sandwiches! Eat that Abbott and Costello!

Owen Burke started on his improvisational and sketch writing path under the direction of the UCB in New York City. Since studying with them, he has written, directed and performed in many shows at the UCB Theatre. Beyond the walls of The UCB Theatre, Owen has performed at the HBO Comedy Arts Festival, the Toyota Comedy Festival, and the Chicago Improv Festival. He also can be spotted performing stand-up comedy all around New York City and he has made appearances on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien," Comedy CentralŐs "Upright Citizens Brigade" and Burly Bear Network's "Movie Junky." You will also be able to catch Owen in the upcoming 3-D Indian musical, "The Magician" and singing and playing slide trombone in the punk rock improvisational Insan-A-Thon, DAR SILICON.

Jane Borden regularly improvises with "My Kickass Van", one of the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre's house teams, and has also been a part of several other improv and sketch shows at the UCBT like "Borden and Mason", "Proceed With Honor", and "Cardboard Follies". Jane can be seen doing improv, characters and stand-up in venues all over NYC. She thinks that Osgood-Schlatter is Hollywood's new "It Guy". You'll think so, too.
