"Very funny and very nuts!" --Ron Poole, POOLE PARTY

"The gays from hell." --NEXT Magazine

After a show-stopping appearances at CBGB's, The Seattle Sketchfest, the Upright Citizen's Brigade Theater, and the Gay and Lesbian Music & Comedy Festival, PINK STEEL bring their two-man cabaret show, QUEENS OF THE DAMMED to the HA! Comedy Festival.

Vocalist Hanson Jobb and guitarist Udo Von DuYu, a.k.a. The Bad Boys from Bremen, invite you behind their music to expose the sinister secrets behind their dogged longevity, their curious obscurityÉand why they keep scaring away their rhythm section.

PINK STEEL: QUEENS OF THE DAMMED is their hard-rocking tale of gay metal, demonic possession, and the other things that make life naughty and fun. The show combines original songs and shtick to give the audience front-row seats to a stadium rock show gone horribly, wonderfully wrong. Expect loads of gay-positive arena-rock cabaret, crammed with PINK STEEL favorites like "IÕm Comin' Out (All Over You)", "Frodonator", "Sausage Party," and "We Fight For Cock!" Mixing pop satire, punch-line songwriting and outlandish performance, PINK STEEL makes heavy metal gay, and gay heavy metal funny as Hell.

GROUP BIO:

PINK STEEL, a.k.a. "the Pink and Black Bareback Attack", have spent the last twenty years in relative obscurity, spreading the gospel of Gay Heavy Metal throughout the eastern U.S. and northern Europe. Born in Bremen, Germany, founding (and currently only) members Hanson Jobb and Udo Von DuYu have pledged to "conquer the world, one bath house at a time."

With seminal albums as Mouth Full of Magic, Creaming for Vengeance and Out at the Devil, PINK STEEL have duly carved their names into men's room walls and their niche in hard rock history.

CHARACTER BIOS:

HANSON JOBB (Vocals): As a teenage boy, Hanson Jobb left the small town of Bremen for the red lights and shaven men of Amsterdam. He returned to his native Germany years later with a broken guitar, a pint of root beer schnapps, and a mission: to bring the true gay voice of metal to the world. Armed with the voice of a banshee, Hanson and guitarist chum Udo Von DuYu conquered the European Metal scene, one bathhouse at a time. Rumors that Hanson may have made a pact with Satan in order to achieve his goals are met with the response: "Satan, like so many men, made me a lot of promises, never called, and left me standing around with an onion in one hand and mine gahundt in the other. Screw him--hail GAYTAN!!!" On rainy days, Hanson likes to go to the zoo.

Hanson Jobb is played by ALEX BREWER, a Hawaii-bred, New-York-based comic and writer. Alex has been featured in a few commercials (CRUNCH gym, Tower Records and some fallen dot-coms.) He has written, produced and performed shows with the sketch group Camera Shy Seniors ("The upper classmen of the New York comedy scene"--according to Rotten Apple NY), and performed with Gotham Beyond ("from the weird to the hilarious, these folks can make comedy out of anything" --Time Out New York). He now performs with POD every Saturday at Gotham City Improv. In 1984 you could find a young and pudgy Alex playing air guitar as his feathered hair bounced in time to Judas Priest's "Breakin' the Law."

UDO VON DuYu (Guitar, backing vocals): Born outside the port town of Bremen, Germany, pioneering Gay Metal guitarist Udo Von DuYu discovered music at an early age, heavy metal in his teens, and hot men shortly after that. While living in Amsterdam, Udo was praised in the local blues community for his versatile guitar style, but ostracized for songs like "Ankle Grabbin' Man" and "Banana Tart." In 1987, Udo joined up with Pink Steel vocalist Hanson Jobb in a smoky Rotterdam bathhouse / nightclub, where Hanson recognized him from high school swim team. The rest--as documented in their power ballad, "Two Men Enter, One Man Loves"--is Gay Metal history.

Udo Von DuYu is played by KEN GROBE, a New York comic and musician. Grobe is an award-winning interactive media writer and author of the sketch comedy show MEMBER DRIVE, which the Village Voice dubbed "Zany." Grobe has performed with sketch comedy ensemble The Onion Burglars, and Gotham City Improv's OFF LEVEL, SKAM, and KAMIKAZE sketch reviews. He also has the distinction of performing--and winning--on THE NEW GONG SHOW. Ask him about it sometime.
